The company was founded in 1975 under the name « Robitaille et Fils fer ornemental », initially specializing in crafting custom fireplace doors, staircases, bannisters, and ornamental metal products.
In 1976, Alain Robitaille joined the company as co-owner with a vision to develop outdoor fireplaces. This pivotal step catalyzed a complete shift in the company’s direction. By the early 1980s, the company built its first controlled combustion wood-burning stove and officially became J. A. ROBY INC.
During the North American energy challenges of the era, demand for reliable wood heating grew rapidly. J. A. ROBY INC. stepped forward to earn its place as a trusted leader in modern wood stove design.
